Wet is me

Imagine me in a regular Fall outfit: nice-ish jeans, purple sweater, white rain jacket, tennis shoes. Now imagine me falling into a lake (or river or pool, whatever) and climbing out in said outfit. That is what I looked like today. It rained so hard all day. It really did not die down the whole time I was outside. By the time we got to school it was like my jeans had done a cycle in the washing machine but not the dryer. On the way back to Niland House, goldfish could have been swimming in my shoes they were so waterlogged.

Molly and I had an agenda today because class ended at 10 so we figured we could get stuff done in town. Even though we were wet we decided to just go shopping anyway because really we couldn't get much wetter. It was successful though: I bought my first official souvenir in Fallers Sweater Shop. It is a nice bag to tote back and forth to the grocery store. They charge 22 cents for plastic bags in the market because they have gone green. (Haha, I know, Ireland...gone green. Completely unintentional.) So, to save money and Mother Earth, Molly and I each bought a generous size bag and we already used them today. So I'd say it was a good day, rain aside. (But I can say that now that I'm in sweatpants with hot chocolate a foot away from me. I'd be singing a different tune if I was still out there.)

I desperately need rain boots and a new umbrella. My beloved automatic red umbrella lasted a good week, but it needs to be retired. Molly and I really want the plastic dome kind because they appear to be indestructible. We're spending the weekend in Dublin so hopefully we'll find something there.

My class today was Philosophy of Art and Literature. It was pretty good. The professor is very young but seems to be very good. It's frustrating because so far all of my classes are taught by two professors. So, I'll only see this guy on Wednesdays and I'll only see the other guy on Fridays. What a weird system. It's like having two different courses almost because they don't seem to overlap a whole lot. If I have to take two different two-hour exams I'm going to be very unhappy.

The International Student Society is hosting a welcome party for the international students tonight at the Skeff Bar in Eyre Square. It sounds like a good time and if we get there early we get free cocktails. Free stuff? I'm all over it.
