Orientation Day!

Yesterday was our six hour orientation. It was absolutely nothing like orientation at high school and college. It was six hours of sitting and listening to lots of speakers. We had one single ice breaker and it was to turn around and talk to the people behind us for ten minutes. No one tried to play “Do you love your neighbor” or any other version of musical chairs. The talking to people thing was good though because I met three girls from Spain who are very nice. They are staying for the whole year. They get to go home for Christmas but that is it. But I guess they could really go home whenever they want because they could just hop a plane and be there in 2 hours.

I went to a different bar last night. It was pretty cool. The band was way better than it was at the one we went to on Tuesday. I don’t like how everything is expensive here. I didn’t have much (read: any) experience with bars in the states, but if it is as expensive to drink there as it is here, I’m glad I never went before because I’d have no money for this trip.

This is the view from the side of the bar we went to. It is called The Quays and I believe that is pronounced "keys" but I could be very wrong.

I believe this is part of the River Corrib but I am not sure. It is on the other side of the walkway to and from campus. Molly and I were walking by at sunset to go to karaoke at the student bar.
