On the way to campus, everything was bright and shiny but on the way home, there was a huge rainstorm. I had my umbrella but my jeans and shoes were soaked by the time we got back from the 15 minute walk to Niland House.

Campus Tour
The only interesting thing I did today was take a campus tour. If the Internet connection cooperates, pictures will follow. We were in a big tour group and it was hard to hear our guide, so I only caught pieces of what he was saying. I think I saw the important buildings. We cut out early to get lunch in the cafeteria. It was pretty good. It's weird to pay over here though because the dollars are coins so I always think I'm getting cheated when I get change back. My lunch cost 7 something euro and I only got a 10 euro bill back with some coins. I thought I was being taken advantage of but then I remembered there are 2 euro and 1 euro coins along with the usual denominations.

Here I am with NUIG sign--the English first version. On the other side of the street there was a Gaelic first version of the sign. The Irish are very proud of their Gaelic.
This is the River Corrib. I have to walk along a good stretch of it to get to school. There are life buoys every few feet that pedestrians can throw in to a drowning person. Apparently there has been an issue with people stealing the floaties because each one has a sign that says, "A stolen buoy is a stolen life."
This is the quadrangle where our tour left from this morning. It's really neat with lots of green and red ivy going up the side. I was standing really close to it so the picture is kind of weird.
