Laura and I walked as far up the mountain as we could. It was a little bit of a hike, but it was totally worth it.

When we were almost to the end of the trail, we found someone take our picture. The view from the fence looks a little like the Cliffs of Moher, but smaller.

The walk is a lot safer than the Cliffs, though, because there is a fence the whole way up. It is so pretty to look over the edge. There was foam all over the place because it was blowing off the water. It even looked like it was snowing sometimes because the foam was blowing around so much.
There was a little piece of the mountain jutting out and it looked pretty easy to climb. So while Laura was taking pictures of the view, I climbed up and surprised her. It was pretty cool, but it was harder getting down than it was getting up.
The path ended very abruptly. I wanted to continue but I figured my mom would not approve of me hopping the fence with this sign clearly fixed to it.

We made our way back to the main part of the causeway. We decided to skip the shuttle that was there and wait 10 minutes for the next one, knowing we would be missing our opportunity for lunch by doing this. Again, it was well worth it because we got to climb all over the rocks we had bypassed to do the hike.
I climbed all the way to the highest point and I wanted to plant an American flag up there, but I left mine at home. And I figured the Irish might not love it, seeing as how one can't claim any land one wants. So, I think I will leave Giant's Causeway to rest now. In our next installment: Derry and the continuing Protestant/Catholic struggles in Northern Ireland. Get excited.

Hi Kristin,
It sounds like you made one of those "good life decisions" that I keep pestering you and your brother about when you decided not to climb past that warning sign! Way to go girl! Your photos are awesome. Keep up the good work on the blog--I look forward to your next post! Love, Mom
